Participant Release

The purpose of this release is to ensure that Dirt Simple, Inc., as operators of the Mind Hackers' Guild, have the ability to produce recorded workshops, promotional excerpts, and otherwise conduct business without legal restrictions on what we can do with member-contributed content (such as forum posts, and what members say when they're participating in workshops).

So, in order for us to do business economically, we need to be able to use such contributed material without having to get individual clearances from each contributor for each piece of material to be used.  We also can't run the risk of being sued by someone else, because one of our members posted or contributed something that didn't belong to them.

So, for these reasons, your participation in all Mind Hackers' Guild activities (including, but not limited to, workshops, teleseminars, internet forums, etc.), is subject to the following terms:

  1. You agree to let Dirt Simple, Inc. (or anyone we authorize), do absolutely anything with the content you contribute, with no right to sue us, even if we quote you out of context and make you look like an idiot in front of the whole world. (We'll try not to do that, of course, but even if we do it on purpose, you still promise not to sue us for it!)
  2. You agree not to post, upload or otherwise contribute any material that you don't own the relevant rights. You agree it so much, in fact, that if somebody sues us over something you contributed, you'll be held personally responsible!
  3. These terms apply to any and every communication you have with us, including (but not limited to) spoken, written, or electronic, as well as every kind of content provided to us via methods including (but not limited to) uploads, posts, and emails. You agree to let us do whatever we want with it, whenever we want, with or without your name on it, forever, even if you leave the group or we kick you out.
  4. You understand that your participation is voluntary and that you can discontinue your involvement at any time, but this will not cancel our rights or your responsibilities under this agreement.  You take full responsibility for your involvement and any risks that involvement may entail, be they legal, physical, mental, or any other kind of risk. You waive any claims against us (and our successors or assigns) that you may have, now or in the future, that may be related to or arise from your participation in the Guild.
  5. You certify that you are over eighteen years of age and are legally competent to make this binding agreement.

If you cannot agree to these terms, please don't participate in Guild activities.  Your participation constitutes a binding agreement to these terms, even if you tell us you don't agree to them!

Sorry to have to put you through all this legalese, but I believe it's best to be clear about these things rather than have problems later.

Thanks,
